Shining Choice AU 1871 Three Dollar Gold
1871 $3 AU55 NGC. Light but distinct wear crosses the high points of this briefly circulated three dollar gold piece, which hails from an issue of just 1,300 business strikes. Generally bright yellow-gold surfaces show a slight duskiness when away from a light source. The fields show a few minor distractions, such as a line of shallow reed marks to the right of the portrait and a shallow pinscratch just above and to the right of the knot in the bow on the reverse.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25MU, PCGS# 7993, Greysheet# 8644)
