Description

Late State 1795 O-105a Half, VF25

1795 50C Two Leaves, O-105a, R.4 VF25 NGC. Ex: Brown. A late die state with obverse die cracks through most stars, especially at the right. Another crack extends from the border through the B to the top of the head, and an additional crack from the bust tip crosses the lower point of the last star to the border.
A beautiful and fully original deep gray example with blue, lilac, and tan on both sides, accompanying light ivory surfaces. Most collectors think of Robinson S. Brown, Jr., as an advanced large cent collector, which he certainly was, but he also assembled an excellent collection of early half dollar varieties.
From the Robinson S. Brown, Jr. Collection.(Registry values: N2998)
