Superb Gem Full Head 1917-S Type Two Quarter

1917-S 25C Type Two MS67 Full Head PCGS. From the Chicagoland Collection, an important Standing Liberty quarter holding featured in our 2003 FUN Signature auction. The obverse is draped in pale violet and golden-rose patina, with blushes of steel-blue at the margins. Lighter golden and lilac shades cover the lustrous reverse. The strike is good, since the date, mintmark, and head are sharp while only a couple of shield rivets near the waist are soft. The obverse is immaculate, and close scrutiny is required to locate faint marks on the lower reverse. Memorable quality for this much scarcer S-mint from the first year of the Type Two design. Population: 7 in 67 Full Head, 0 finer (2/07).
