Description

Select Mint State 1819 N-2 Cent

1819/8 1C MS63 Brown PCGS. N-2, R.1. Sometimes cataloged as an Overdate, and other times cataloged as a Large Date, this example clearly shows evidence of a previous 8 beneath the 9. However, it is not the normal N-1 Overdate variety. Raised areas around the 9 suggest an attempt to remove the previous 8 in the die before the 9 was punched in. This lovely Mint State piece has frosty medium brown color with quite a bit of lighter tan, faded from original red. Light surface marks are evident on each side, but are seldom distracting. EAC 60.(Registry values: P1)
