Description

1837 1C Plain Cords, Medium Letters MS65 Brown NGC. N-6, R.2. Our EAC Grade MS60. Ex: Mervis Collection. The envelope that accompanies this cent identified a coin from the R.E. "Ted" Naftzger Collection that is described as a proof. However, NGC calls it a business strike and we concur with their opinion. The strike is bold and the lightly reflective surfaces have lovely cartwheel luster with attractive chestnut and mahogany patina on both sides. A few small toning spots are noted alongside small splashes of faded orange mint color.
Possibly Ex: Larry Whitlow (7/1976); R.E. Naftzger.
From The Adam Mervis Large Cent Collection.(Registry values: P1)
