Description

George V gold Sovereign 1914-C MS66 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM20. A stunning Gem example of this lower mintage Sovereign issue. Michael A. Marsh in his book, The Gold Sovereign, appeared to assume a very high meltage rate for the early gold Sovereigns, and a rarity rating of R3 was assigned to the 1914-C. This exceptional example is one of only two pieces certified in MS66 by PCGS, the other being the one in our sale of the Canadiana Collection in 2010. This piece has bright, lustrous, golden mint color with a bold strike. A true rarity in all aspects.
