Thieu Tri silver "Sun and Moon" 5 Tien ND (1841-1847) AU58 NGC, KM281, Schr-242. 19.00gm. A truly pleasing representative made even more special by the fact that this auction includes an example of this exact type and denomination struck during Tu Duc's reign. Light champagne silhouettes percolate across the surfaces, enlivening the expanses upon illumination. While only a gentle friction precludes a coveted Mint State assignment, this does virtually nothing to hinder the desirability of the piece at hand. Featuring the Confucian verses "The precious stone khuyet and the cinnabar in a thousand years are transformed into very pure gold transmissible to ten thousand generations. Thus we recognize merit and we highlight virtuous men, because wisdom alone is precious" which seemingly sheds light on the internal political program of the monarch.

19克。這枚安南銀幣賞心悅目，令人愛不釋手。而更特別的是，是日拍賣中同時呈獻一枚設計和面額完全相，但於嗣德年間鑄造的例子。淡香檳金色的輪廓在幣面展露無遺，在燈光下尤其靈動鮮活。雖然帶有一道輕淡絲痕，但在手上細看時，其吸引力絲毫未減。

紹治通寶這種刻有銘文的錢幣因其龐大的尺寸和複雜的細節而令人著迷，闡明了君主的內部政治綱領及用於皇室獎賞有功的文武官員。正面刻有「紹治通寶、萬世永賴」，背面亦刻有具賞功彰德功能的銘文: 「玦澒：千年化盪，鏐萬酬勳，世傳彰有德，所寶者惟賢」，這是仿傚以硃砂將文字刻在石頭上的做法。這些銘文雖呈現對宗教，智慧和越南阮朝傳統基礎的依戀，但刻上的銘文、五行星，五雲彩以及太陽和月亮所呈現的的吉祥形象，使許多人將其錯誤地用之鑲嵌於珠寶上或當為護身符使用，因此所倖存的數量極少，呈完整狀態者更無甚。
