Description

Yuan Dynasty 5 Qian of Massive Proportions

Yuan Dynasty. Shun (Toghon Temur) (1333-1368) 5 Qian ND (from 1350) Certified 80 by Gong Bo Grading, Possibly Jiangxi (Kiangsi) Province, Hartill-19.124. Zhi Zheng Zhi Bao. 80x7.9mm. 189.4gm. A tremendous Yuan Dynasty cash issue of gargantuan size. This collection featured an example of the same type that was sold in our June HKINF sale, but this specimen is significantly heavier in weight, likely owed to an increase in thickness by over 2.5mm. This width and weight difference is quite incredible and we think specialists of the series will be intrigued by this information. Somewhat corroded but not overly so, and the detail on this offering is quite clear. A super selection worthy of interest for the most devoted of Cash coin collectors.

Minted in a period of economic reform to replace small-sized coins with paper money and larger Cash coins. The paper money became too troublesome due to its poor quality and difficulties to redeem, leading to exponential inflation and a widespread loss of confidence in the monetary system.

80x7.9毫米。
