Description

1723 Hibernia Farthing in Silver, MS64
M. 3.2-Bc.10, W-12500

1723 FARTH Hibernia Pattern Farthing, Silver MS64 PCGS. M. 3.2-Bc.10, W-12500, R.5. Breen-173, "very rare." Close DEI GRATIA. According to Breen, "About 20 pieces turned up in England, 1971," a quantity insufficient to satisfy the growing number of Early American collectors. Lovely orange-gold and ocean-blue endow this prooflike and needle-sharp Hibernia pattern. A small planchet flaw (as struck) is located in the field near the chin and a tiny roundish depression on the King's cheek are mentioned for the sake of future pedigree researchers. Listed on page 56 of the 2019 Guide Book. Population: 10 in 64 (2 in 64+), 5 finer (5/18).
