Description

Nearly Finest Certified 1918-S Buffalo Nickel

1918-S 5C MS65 PCGS. It is actually surprising that such a large number of these coins have been certified by PCGS in Gem quality. This example is frustratingly close to the finest certified example of the date. A few tiny marks on the bison keep this from a higher grade. Bid strong and give this bison a happy new home. Fully lustrous with pale gray surfaces and rainbow album color highlighted by peripheral iridescent toning. Nearly all details are sharply defined, save for the Indian's braid and the bison's front shoulder. The die state specialist will be particularly delighted with the clash marks below the Indian's chin. Population: 24 in 65, 1 finer (12/04).(#3940) (Registry values: N7079)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22RK, PCGS# 3940, Greysheet# 3117)
