Description

1868 Shield Nickel, PR67 Cameo
Seldom-Seen Date

1868 5C PR67 Cameo NGC. The 1868 proof nickel is ranked as second scarcest in the series. Only 600 proofs were struck, and PR67 Cameo is the ultimate grade with two other pieces so graded but none finer (3/11). This is a lovely example that shows deeply mirrored fields, nicely contrasting frosted devices, and faint traces of blue and rose color on each side.
