1913 Type One Buffalo Nickel, MS63
Old Green Holder, Light Toning

1913 5C Type One MS63 PCGS. James Earle Fraser's nickel design initially portrayed the bison standing on a mount, with FIVE CENTS in elevation on that mound. However, this text quickly wore off in circulation, and part-way through 1913 the design was changed to recess FIVE CENTS into a cavity beneath the bison. The sculpted shallow of the fields was also smoothed out on the Type Two coin. As a result, the 1913 Type One is not only a one-year type issue, it also has a distinctively more sculptural appearance overall, which many type collectors love. This is a collectible Select example of the Type One coin, lightly toned champagne with a russet stripe across the obverse, and no major abrasions. Housed in a generation 3.0 old green label holder.(Registry values: N208)
