Description
1937-D Three-Legged Nickel, MS64
Luminous CAC Example
1937-D 5C Three-Legged, FS-901, MS64 PCGS. CAC. The Denver
Mint used working dies well past the point where they started to
erode, throughout the 1920s and 1930s. In 1937, an eroded nickel
die pair was aggressively polishing to smooth metal flow out of the
fields, and in the process the bison's forward right leg was
effaced. The 1937-D Three-Legged nickel is now one of the key
acquisitions in the series and highly sought after in all grades.
This CAC-endorsed near-Gem displays satiny luster with subtle
iridescence throughout tan-gold toning. Eye appeal and strike
sharpness are excellent.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22SX, Variety PCGS# 38475, Base PCGS# 3982)
