Description

1789 Mott Token, MS62 Brown
Thin Planchet, Engrailed Edge

1789 TOKEN Mott Token, Thin Planchet, Engrailed Edge MS62 Brown PCGS. Breen-1025. An Early American store card, the Mott token was collected as a colonial type for many decades. However, the similarity of the eagle to Reich's 1807 five dollar design confirms a 19th century production. A lustrous and unabraded medium brown copper. An early die state without a break from the clock corner. The central reverse exhibits strike-throughs (as made) and the reverse is misaligned toward 5 o'clock. Housed in a green label holder. Listed on page 74 of the 2015 Guide Book.

Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 607, Greysheet# 248)
