Description
Republic 8 Reales 1840/39/1 Do-RM/L AU58 NGC, Durango mint, KM377.4, DP-Do17 ("Extremely rare"). Clearly the very rare variety with "R" over sideways "R" in Republica, albeit not identified as such on the insert. Borderline Mint State with only very slight high-point friction evidence and strong mint luster over pleasant surfaces for this crude issue. Currently the finer of only two certified examples of this variety by either NGC or PCGS and certainly among the finest extant, a well-pedigreed coin, vastly desirable in this engaging quality. Ex.
