1787 1C Fugio Cent, New Haven Restrike, Brass, MS63 PCGS. CAC. N. 104-FF, W-17570. Thin rings and a prominent chin on the sun identify the "New Haven Restrike," a Fugio copy made by Horatio N. Rust in Waterbury, Connecticut, shortly before the Civil War. Fugio collectors have long embraced the issue as part of the series. Most examples were struck in copper. Brass pieces are rare. An orange-gold and chocolate-brown example. Die rust within the rings is characteristic of the variety. Both sides display traces of lacquer. Population: 6 in 63, 3 finer (6/15).
