Description

1804 C-12, B-11 Half Cent, MS64 Brown
Crosslet 4, No Stems, Ex: Missouri Cabinet Collection

1804 1/2 C Crosslet 4, No Stems, C-12, B-11, R.2, MS64 Brown PCGS. Ex: Missouri Cabinet Collection. Easily attributed as the only Crosslet 4, No Stems die pairing for the 1804 half cent. Breen writes in his Complete Encyclopedia: "UNC. survivors are usually dull." Clearly, this piece is an exception. Glossy brown surfaces display just a touch of roughness in the fields and faint clashing around the portrait. Well-struck over the centers. Our EAC grade MS62.
Ex: R. T. Davis Collection (Stack's, 2/1968), lot 4; George F. Scanlon Collection (Stack's, 10/1973), lot 7; R. Tettenhorst Collection; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society; Missouri Cabinet (Mocab 04.12.2) (Goldberg Auctions, 1/2014), lot 76.
