Description

1913-S Type Two Nickel, MS67+
Tied for the Finest Certified

1913-S 5C Type Two MS67+ PCGS. CAC. The highly popular Buffalo nickel series, issued from 1913 through 1938, began with the Type One design that had the bison standing on a mound. The imperfect reverse design was soon modified with the bison standing on flat ground. This impressive Superb Gem is tied with one other PCGS-certified example and those two coins are likely tied for finest known status. Like most or perhaps all 1913-S Type Two nickels, slight peripheral weakness is evident at the tops of LIBERTY and UNITED STATES. This highly lustrous example, displaying pristine surfaces and light gold toning, is a candidate for one of the finest registry sets. Population: 9 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 4 in 67, 0 finer (7/25).(Registry values: N4719)
