1857 Silver Dollar, MS63
Elusive in Mint State
1857 $1 MS63 PCGS. OC-2, R.3. The Mint struck 94,000 silver
dollars in 1857, although only a few dozen coins survive in Mint
State. This Select representative is slightly weak at the upper
edge of the eagle's left (facing) wing but well-defined elsewhere.
Virtually brilliant interiors cede to warm orange-gold border
toning. A few scattered light marks do not detract. Population: 10
