1917 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS66 Red PCGS. FS-101. Though the obverse of this now-popular variety shows substantial doubling at the word TRUST and the date, particularly on the 7, it was not discovered until 1977, a full 60 years after its creation. Its fame has grown rapidly since then, however, aided by listings in prominent references such as the Guide Book and the Cherrypickers' Guide. The present Premium Gem offers attractive copper-gold surfaces and solid overall detail. Lustrous and well-preserved with minimal carbon. For the variety, Population: 4 in 66 Red, 2 finer (12/10).
