Description

1814 S-295, B-2, Plain 4 Cent, AU58
Chestnut-Brown and Steel-Blue Color

1814 1C Plain 4, S-295, B-2, R.1, AU58 PCGS. An intermediate die state with an arcing die crack at the lower right obverse. Two distinctive varieties are known for the 1814 cents, the last of their kind. The copper supply was exhausted and the embargos of the War of 1812 delayed a new planchet supply from England. This near-Mint cent has frosty luster with chestnut and chocolate-brown surfaces. Steel-blue accents are seen throughout. Our EAC grade AU50.
