Description

1796 Dollar, VF Sharpness
Small Date, Small Letters
B-1, BB-66, Late Die State

1796 $1 Small Date, Small Letters, B-1, BB-66, R.4 -- Cleaned -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details. Ex: The Peh Family Collection. Bowers Die State II. Nice detail remains for the assigned grade, although we note a few minor rim irregularities including a small obverse ding between I and B of LIBERTY. Medium-gray patina displays light-silver areas on the main devices, with few marks or abrasions to interrupt the smoothly worn surfaces. The date is bold, confirming the BB-66 variety that shows the 9 and 6 closer together than the other digits. This is a scarce die pair for the year and the coin is attractive for the PCGS Details grade. Other than some slight glossiness on the obverse high points, there is little evidence of the noted cleaning.
From The Peh Family Collection.
