Description

1856 Half Dime
Rare Gem Proof

1856 H10C PR65 NGC. A speckling blue and olive-gray toning covers the underlying champagne-gold coloration of this reflective Gem half dime. The Valentine-2 variety shows a high date, positioned far to the right of the shield tip. Fully struck on the bow knot and obverse stars, only Liberty's forecurls show blending. The PCGS Coin Facts mintage estimate of 50 proofs does not take attrition into account, and we believe perhaps 30 to 40 proofs of the 1856 proofs survive in all grades. Census: 8 in 65, 6 finer (11/15).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 235L, PCGS# 4434, Greysheet# 3899)

Weight: 1.24 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
