Charles & Johanna "Late Series" 4 Reales ND (1542-1555) O-Mo MS64 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM0018, Cal-139. 13.70gm. An exceedingly well-preserved example of this ever-popular type and one that elicits a sense of wonder. Nearly as-struck and laden with argent reflectivity, each detail rendered precisely as intended. While embossed slightly off-center and exhibiting very minor weakness to the periphery, the piece at hand remains an imposing giant of the series, and as the sole second finest 4 Reales of any type from Charles & Johanna between the major grading services, with only a single gem certified, we expect demand for such a rarity to exceed our estimate.Metal: Silver
