Description

1879 'Washlady Quarter' in Silver
Judd-1590, PR68 Ultra Cameo
Ex: Genaitis Collection

1879 25C Washlady Quarter Dollar, Judd-1590, Pollock-1783, High R.6, PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC. The celebrated "Washlady" Liberty portrait by Charles Barber. IN GOD WE TRUST is above, with stars to the left and right and the date below. The reverse has an eagle clutching an olive branch and three arrows. The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA legend and E PLURIBUS UNUM motto follow inside the upper reverse border. The denomination is expressed as QUAR. DOLLAR. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This is a stunning Gem proof with radiant devices and deeply mirrored fields. Light roller marks across Liberty's portrait are retained from the planchet and have no bearing on the grade. The borders show glimpses of golden-brown and electric-blue toning. Single-finest graded at either NGC or PCGS, and the sole specimen certified as Ultra Cameo by NGC (12/25).
