Description

Appealing 1858 Half Dime, MS67

1858 H10C MS67 NGC. CAC. The present Superb Gem is one of about three dozen so certified at NGC and PCGS combined, with a small handful finer. Pinkish-gray patina predominates, with excellent eye appeal and a bold strike. This piece, like many of the 1858 half dimes we have seen, shows a curious gouge out of the lower left loop of the first 8 that has flattened that portion of the digit, similar to the coin shown under FS-301 in the Cherrypickers' Guide, fourth edition, volume II. Census: 20 in 67, 4 finer (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 233U, PCGS# 4367, Greysheet# 3784)

Weight: 1.24 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
