The smooth surfaces of this Choice About Uncirculated double eagle are minimally marked for the grade, with natural patina that wavers between honey and butterscotch coloration, for the overall look of fine antique gold. Traces of mint luster add to the eye appeal. Liberty's curls show moderate wear, although all of the motifs are well-defined. Always popular for its first-year-of-issue status, the 1850 is almost always heavily abraded at the AU level but not so here.(Registry values: N1793)
