Republic gold "Veld" Pond 1902 AU Details (Obverse Scratched) NGC, Pilgrims Rest mint, KM11, Fr-4, Hern-Z54. One of a mere 968 pieces of this wartime issue that were struck hastily to pay soldiers of the Second Boer War. Admitting a multitude of scratches over the date that remains fully legible. Regardless, an ever-popular type and a rare opportunity to obtain a coin that must have seen some fierce action during its existence.
