Description

Gem Red and Brown 1877 Cent
Deep Cherry-Red Patina

1877 1C MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. This Gem Red and Brown key-date 1877 Indian cent is kept from a full Red designation (and a much higher price) only by a bit of speckled blue patina over each side. Nonetheless, a remarkable amount of deep cherry-red luster prevails over both sides, lending notable eye appeal that is further enhanced by an absence of mentionable abrasions. The strike is sharp overall, even if a tad of weakness appears on the feather tips. Gem Red and Brown and Gem Brown cent collections are both increasingly popular and quite rewarding. Population: 58 in 65 (1 in 65+) Red and Brown, 3 finer (9/12).(Registry values: N4719)
