Description
1992-D 1C Close AM -- Damage -- PCGS Genuine. Unc. Details. FS-901. Proof 1992-S cents all feature a close AM in AMERICA. However, that subtype was not intended for business strikes of that year, which show a wide AM in AMERICA. Apparently, a single reverse die of the close AM subtype, intended for the 1993-D issue, was instead struck on 1992-D dies late that year. Examples went into circulation and, given their minimal face value, most were likely discarded over time. The present piece is nearly full Red but has moderate obverse marks and rim corrosion.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 83099, Greysheet# 312945)
