Description

1843 Seated Dime, MS65
Repunched 3, Mottled Patina

1843 10C Repunched Date, F-106, R.3, MS65 PCGS. Repunching on the 3 is most apparent under the top of the crossbar and is diagnostic for the variety. As a date, the 1843 dime is fairly plentiful, but Mint State coins are rare. Mottled dusky gray, crimson, and gold patina over impeccably preserved surfaces defines this well-detailed Gem and hides what few grade-limiting marks are seen. An exceedingly difficult coin to upgrade. Population (all varieties): 4 in 65, 3 finer (3/18).

Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 537815, Base PCGS# 4583)
