Description

1900-O Barber Quarter, MS67
Condition Census Coin

1900-O 25C MS67 PCGS. CAC. Type One Obverse, Type Two Reverse. The 1900-O Barber quarter is seldom thought of as a significant semikey date, but its scarcity in Mint State is undeniable. Gem examples are seldom seen, and finer pieces are major rarities. Based on the combined populations from PCGS and NGC, this Superb Gem example joins four other pieces beneath two finer MS68 examples to rank among the finest known.

Soft, satiny luster resides beneath concentric patina that shows warm orange-gold and amber hues in the centers, with deeper aqua-blue and rose-gray around the peripheries. The reverse arrow fletchings, as well as several obverse stars, show minor striking weakness, not unusual for this New Orleans product. Population: 3 in 67 (1 in 67+), 1 finer (1/16).
