JUDAEA. The Jewish War (AD 66-70). AR shekel (23mm, 14.22 gm, 11h). NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5. Jerusalem, dated Year 3 (AD 68/9). Paleo-Hebrew Shekel of Israel, ritual chalice with pearled rim, the base resting on raised projections; Year 3 above / Jerusalem the Holy, staff with three pomegranate buds, globular base. Hendin 1361. TJC 202. MCP dies O2/R26. Tiny deposits here and there, otherwise an attractive specimen, crisply struck from fresh dies, with a lustrous obverse.Auction Info
