Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar, MS62
Beautifully Reflective

1889-CC $1 MS62 PCGS. VAM-2. Ex: Desert Find. Substantial reflectivity adorns the fields on each side, bringing this coin breathlessly close to a Prooflike designation. Indeed, we have seen other Carson City dollars with similar field mirroring that had been assigned a Prooflike grade. Frosty luster cascades over the devices, complementing a sharp strike. Myriad light abrasions define the numeric grade but are not as obtrusive as is seen on many MS62 examples. When this cataloger first saw this piece, the thought was immediately "so that's what an MS62 Carson City should look like." The coin is excellent, and at this time not yet submitted to CAC for review.

The VAM-2 dies are in a slightly earlier state on this piece, without the spindly die crack through the base of the date. Other diagnostics are clear.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
