Description

1865-S Double Eagle, MS62
Ex:
S.S. Brother Jonathan

1865-S $20 MS62 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Brother Jonathan 848. A splendid Mint State example from the treasure that was found off the coast of Northern California in the 1990s, and dispersed in 1999. Although several hundred Mint State 1865-S double eagles were located and sold, few have returned to the market since that time. This pleasing specimen has rich yellow-gold luster with scattered surface marks. The design features on both sides are sharply defined. An opportunity for the treasure collector who missed the 1999 auction.
