Low-Mintage Carson City Issue
1879-CC $20 -- Cleaned -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Winter
1-A. Although the 1874-CC, 1875-CC, and 1876-CC double eagles
all had mintages that surpassed 100,000 pieces, production of the
denomination then dwindled. During 1879, only 10,708 twenties were
coined at Carson City. The present peach-gold example approaches
Mint State sharpness, but the fields are hairlined and a few tiny
specks of struck-in grease are found near the tip of Liberty's nose
and the base of the eagle's tail. No marks are of notice save for
contact on the reverse rim near 3 o'clock.(Registry values: N2998)
