Description

1893-S Quarter Dollar, MS66+
Condition Census Piece

1893-S 25C MS66+ PCGS. The 1893-S quarter dollar is scarce in Mint State, and such pieces are typically seen only in the MS62 to MS64 grade range. This high-end Premium Gem is obviously a condition rarity and an important Registry Set opportunity. Exceedingly sharp definition appears on all of the usual weak spots, such as the eagle's talons and right (facing) shoulder and the peripheral obverse stars. Light golden interiors cede to deeper russet border toning. A single tick behind Liberty's eye appears to be what limits the grade. Population: 5 in 66 (2 in 66+), 2 finer (11/18).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23XY, PCGS# 5606, Greysheet# 5416)

Weight: 6.25 grams
