1859-C $5 AU58 NGC. Winter-2....
Description
1859-C Half Eagle, AU58
Rare Variety
1859-C $5 AU58 NGC. Winter-2. All 1859-C half eagles share a
reverse die that was not properly annealed, resulting in the eagle
looking "fuzzy." Two obverses were used. Winter-2 shows the 1 in
the date centered over two dentils and is quite rare. This
near-Mint piece displays slight field reflectivity and rich
peach-gold patina with a sharp strike. Little wear is evident, and
field chatter is not bothersome for the grade. NGC Census: 38 in
