Description

1842 Near-Gem Dollar
Among Finest Certified

1842 $1 MS64 PCGS. Housed in a green-label PCGS holder is a splendid Choice Mint State example of the 1842 Seated Liberty silver dollar. This piece is tied for the finest certified at PCGS and NGC. Both sides have semi-mirrored fields around lustrous devices, resulting in mild contrast when the coin is rotated beneath a light source. Light gold toning becomes barely visible under magnification. The strike is excellent, although the stars reveal softness, as often seen. The surfaces exhibit a few scattered marks, including minor scrapes at the upper right obverse. This is a highly attractive coin that will make a fine addition to a high-grade collection. Population: 17 in 64, 0 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N4719)
