Description

1766 1/2 P Pitt Halfpenny AU50 PCGS. Betts-519, W-8350, R.3. The Pitt halfpenny was struck to celebrate the repeal of the Stamp Act, detested by merchants on both sides of the Atlantic. William Pitt the Elder was the leading proponent of repeal. This is a handsome and well-defined mahogany-brown representative with attractive eye appeal. Struck from lightly clashed dies. Listed on page 62 of the 2019 Guide Book.
