Republic gold 10 Dukatu 1933 MS67 NGC, Kremnitz mint, KM14, Fr-4. Mintage: 1,780. A now classic European rarity of the 20th century and a type that has generated impressive sums in recent auctions, especially for those at the highest level of preservation in a series almost exclusively witnessed in and around a Gem designation. While it's hard to compare to the next lot as an MS68, the current representative remains among the top examples of the denomination certified between both services, with only two finer via a coveted "+." A firm strike yields a nearly full expression of the devices throughout, uninhibited by contact marks or wisps associated with lesser grades, facing up as fully intended by the engraver. A truly spectacular specimen deserving of considerable attention.
