George III silver Proof Pattern "Three Graces" Crown 1817 PR62 PCGS, KM-PnA77, L&S-152, ESC-2020 (R2; prev. ESC-223). Plain edge. By William Wyon. A remarkable Pattern issue conceived by the renowned engraver, William Wyon, and one which continues to defy the effects of time to remain an enduring icon of British numismatics to this very day. Medallic in both the depth of its features and its careful attention to detail across intricate motifs, this fascinating type ranks among the most beautiful designs of the 19th century. A silty silver patina elevates this offering to a level beyond that which is implied by its grade, delicately laid upon the surfaces and easily obscuring any instances of handling that might otherwise be more apparent.
