Description

Republic gold 8 Escudos 1834 So-I MS61 PCGS, Santiago mint, KM84, Fr-33. A highly desirable assayer issue and one of the more evocatively designed early Republic types, this final date in the series has historically commanded premium bids, even in lesser states of preservation than this finest-graded example at PCGS. The bold details retain the lion's share of their original strike, including the volcanic ridges and sunface features. Bidders should note the rarity of this So-I assayer issue compared with the more prevalent So-IJ issue.
