Description

1852-O Ten Dollar, AU55
Choice Surfaces, Seldom Seen Finer

1852-O $10 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. A small mintage of 18,000 pieces followed the much larger 1851-O production of 263,000 pieces. Still, the 1852-O is moderately available in comparison to other low-mintage eagles, although it is rare in Mint State. This is a Choice About Uncirculated survivor, with frosted straw-gold surfaces and glints of mint luster around the raised devices. Only tiny marks exist on the well-preserved, sharply struck surfaces. A bold "shield ring" adds interest to the reverse, which shows the mintmark entirely left of the feather tip. Census: 22 in 55, 10 finer (10/19).(Registry values: N2998)
