Description
1875-CC Eagle, AU50
Highly Sought Old West Issue
1875-CC $10 AU50 PCGS. Winter 1-A. Wide CC mintmark. Only
100 eagles were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1875 and none at
the San Francisco Mint, making this Carson City issue the sole
reasonably available date representative for ten dollar gold
collectors. This flashy orange-gold example is an ideal midgrade
example of an underrated CC date, with only 100 to 135 gradable
survivors plus perhaps two dozen impaired examples. This About
Uncirculated example displays olive and reddish-gold accents
throughout pleasing yellow-gold surfaces that a sharper strike than
often seen for this strike-challenged issue. Moderate high-point
wear determines the assigned grade. A scattering of small obverse
marks include a intermittent curved abrasion on Liberty's brow,
cheekbone, and chin. Luster remains around the obverse stars and
within protected areas on both sides. PCGS Population: 6 in 50, 22
finer (12/24).(Registry values: N7079)From The Ron L. Cates Collection.
