Description

1838 N-1 Cent, MS66 Brown
Exemplary Young Head Type Coin

1838 1C N-1, R.1, MS66 Brown PCGS. The 1 in the date is recut, as is the I in UNITED and the E in AMERICA. A magnificent example with ample hints of faded red in design recesses, though the majority of the coin is lightly toned tan-brown. The essentially unabraded and carbon-free surfaces are lustrous and pleasing. Our EAC grade MS63.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2009), lot 79, which realized $2,530.
