Description

1911 Cent, PR66+ Brown
Carbon-Free Surfaces

1911 1C PR66+ Brown PCGS. Though traditional keys such as the 1909-S VDB, 1914-D, and 1931-S still command more attention, advanced collectors are aware that the matte proof cents are rarer. The 1911 matte proof mintage of 1,725 pieces is less than half of the 1910, and only a small percentage of survivors can match the exceptional quality of the present carbon-free specimen. It boasts a sharp strike and glimpses of cherry-red toning across predominantly olive-brown surfaces. Population: 37 in 66 (3 in 66+) Brown, 1 finer (7/19).(Registry values: N991)
