Description

1811/10 Capped Bust Half, O-101, AU58
Naturally Toned and Lustrous

1811/10 50C AU58 NGC. CAC. O-101, R.1. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. Remnants of the underlying 0 appear below left and above right of the first 1, indicating a fairly early die state of the issue. This lovely near-Mint example is well-detailed, with the characteristically flat stars on the left. The lightly abraded surfaces display virtually full, vibrant, and frosty mint luster. The brilliant silver centers are surrounded by deep shades of sea-green and violet toning at the rims, telling us the coin was stored in an album.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
