Description

Saxony. Johann Georg II Klippe Taler 1679 MS62 NGC, Dresden mint, KM564, Dav-7637. A fascinating and handsome offering to commemorate the Treaties of Peace of Nijmegen that ended various wars between France, Spain, Sweden, Denmark-Norway, the Dutch Republic, Brandenburg, the Prince-Bishopric of Münster, and the Holy Roman Empire. We find a detailed Hercules with his iconic club and pelt being crowned by a hand from heaven. On the reverse, the patinaed surfaces are met with an under glow of bright sunflower-champagne toning to create a beautiful juxtaposition of hues.
