Description

Republic copper Pattern Sucre 1884-HEATON MS61 Brown NGC, Heaton mint, KM-Unl., Sweeney-Unl. Plain edge. An extremely curious and potentially unique issue struck in copper, possibly as a trial striking, lending an advanced aesthetic caliber having toned in a most magnificent array of vibrant colors, more than one would expect from any copper host. A distinctive product of the Heaton mint, boasting an advanced level of engraved detail one comes to expect from the institution and one that we have been unable to locate coming to auction in recent decades; the only other specimen of this description and possibly the same coin is the Waldo Newcomer specimen, offered in 1935. A treat to behold and a once in a generation opportunity for the Ecuadorian or Latin American specialist.
